*Note: There was an issue with exporting the GIF file with Adobe, so I used an external software. It created a sort of pixelized, but kinda cool, cloth texture onto the gif. I decided to keep it because it's Batik :). Clear MP4 available in Task 2 portfolio.

Final Type Design, Onomatopoeia

My idea is about creating "wingdings" for sounds in webcomics, or more commonly known as onomatopoeia. Some of the sounds I created include, bang, boom, crash, etc. I then used the generated font on comic templates as the appliacation.

Reflection

Experience

There was definitely more freedom in Advanced Typography than Typography. I was especially grateful that we didn't have to use the 10 typefaces every single time anymore. Class wise, it was pretty fun to have face to face classes again after a while (although I may have not gone to every face to face class and instead used Zoom ehe). In terms of the lecturer (I'm sorry Mr Vinod), but honestly while he's speaking, you can tell that he gets tired after giving feedback to the first 15 people and people who were last usually had really short feedbacks. I would recommend Taylor's to have less people in a class next time, or for Mr Vinod to make breaks in between his feedback.

Observation

For observations, I realized how uch effort it takes to create a font from a photo and expecting it to be readable and also look like it relates to the photo. Task 2 took way longer than I expected, although the outcome was satisfying, there were times where I was just-

brain dead :)

But, following Mr Vinod's advice to just close the file, take a breather and open it the next day worked wonders. I could create things better and the art block is less.

Finding

What I found the most interesting ths semester was how simple things can be very attractive too. I love colours, and my brain is as messy as it gets. However, through the typographic systems exercise, I learned to calm myself, and create something that looks neat, cleand and attractive. Besides that, I also learned about branding and how to use your logo as an aartwork instead of relying on external visuals.
